There is a lot debate on whether to use the population size to ditermine the number of constituencies or the size of an area.Obviously like many other current matters in kenya today, this issue has been politicised with different politicians taking opportunities at every funeral,fund raiser or weddings to rant about his opinion on the side he supports.Obviously its not a case of either or, since, whether one looks at the population size or the area to be represented they are all equally unimportant.Why? whether you represent 1million constituents as a member of parliament in 1 square km. compared to another MP. who is representing an area of 1million square kms. which just has one constituent, both of you take home over 1 million kenya shillings, plus allowances for doing absolutely nothing!
Except for hopping from one funeral,wedding,and other parties our kenya MP. is an overly compensated fellow for doing absolutely nothing.
There is a commission on boundaries that is charged with the responsibilities of looking afresh on the kenyan boundaries.Meanwhile we will wait and see what happens on the outcome of their findings.
